What To Do When You Experience a Sudden Car Breakdown

Have you ever been driving, and the next minute, your engine goes silent and your car comes to a complete stop? Perhaps you had noticed a slight problem, but you were waiting for the weekend when you would have time to take the car to the mechanic. Well, the good news is that with towing services, you can always get help with your car. Below are steps to take when you experience a sudden breakdown.

Move the car away from traffic

If the car happens to stop in the middle of the road, this can be inconvenient for other road users. You should therefore try to move it to the side of the road in order to avoid creating a traffic obstruction. If you have an automatic car, place the gear in drive and release the leg or hand brake. Slowly push the car to the point where you want it and put the brake back on. If you are not able to do this, then use your reflective triangles to warn other drivers. Place them a short distance from the car, one at the front and another at the back. You should make sure that the reflective sides are facing oncoming traffic.

Call towing services

Once your car is safely parked away from traffic or protected by the reflective triangles, you can now call for towing help. You should always have a towing number in your contacts if you are a driver. This will save you a lot of time and trouble that you would go through trying to locate one on the internet. However, if you do not have any towing services contacts, then simply search online. Find the ones nearest to you for a faster response.

Stay put

You should never leave your broken-down car at the side of the road unattended. Whether it is night or day, leaving your car leaves it open for ill-intending individuals. They may steal the whole car or take out some parts such as side mirrors and tires, and they may take valuable things that you are carrying inside. If you are experiencing the breakdown at night, stay in your car and wait for the towing services to come. Do not play any loud music so that you can listen to what is going on. Luckily, emergency towing services have a fast response time, so you might not have to wait for too long before they arrive.
